The Egyptian Pound (EGP) is the national currency in Egypt. Branches of major banks are available in abundance in all the major cities. Banks typically operate from 8.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, with some branches extending their opening hours until 5.00 p.m. Hotel branches in some of the cities operate throughout 24 hours. Currency Exchange offices and ATM's are located in the arrival hall of Aswan airport. ATM's are also widespread throughout the branches in other locations such as supermarkets, petrol stations and shopping malls.


The summer climate in Aswan features temperatures which regularly average 25°C- 38°C / 77°F -102°F.  Many attractions and shops tend to close for a few hours in the early afternoon, and then stay open until late into the evening, when it quickly becomes much cooler.
